Synthetic biodegradable wax, an alternative approach to the conventional petroleum-based plastics in packaging | Poster Board #596

Date
August 18, 2024

A sample approach has been developed for the synthesis of biodegradable waxes derived from renewable resources. Our synthesized waxes have the ability to resist water and grease when coated on Kraft paper making them suitable for various packaging applications. The synthesized wax demonstrates impressive chemo-degradation properties and imparts enhanced mechanical strength to the coated materials. The wax-coated paper was also checked for recyclability by washing with a basic aqueous solution and almost all coated materials were removed significantly. Additionally, incorporating 10 wt % natural carnauba wax into your synthesized wax is a promising approach to further enhance the water and grease resistance properties of the coated papers.
