A series of bi-dentate ligands have been produced which have long, non-polar tails and relatively polar heads. The synthesis involved a Schiff's based condensation, and can often be run at room temperature. We will present the results of these syntheses, as well as the results of initial trials in producing ligand-metal complexes using various metal salts, and ligand-plastic mixes.
The continued threat of viral contamination in municipal water supplies requires the systematic evaluation of existing unit processes and develop new technologies to better attenuate pathogenic viruses in the water as an effort to protect public health. Four coagulation approaches (i.e…
The current wet waste management strategies rely heavily on landfill and anaerobic digestion, both of which are potential sources of greenhouse gas emission…
Chlorination is a common technique for water disinfection in many developing and developed countries. However, the extent at which chlorine kills or inactivate microorganisms in water has not been well established…
More than 650 million people around the world still lack access to clean water. The importance of finding effective water disinfection methods cannot be overstated. The most used disinfection approach, chlorination, suffers from the limitation of generating disinfection by-products (DBPs)…
