Palladium(II) complexes of 2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine and 4′-chloro-2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine: Synthesis, characterization, and cytotoxicity studies | Poster Board #942

New palladium(II) complexes were synthesized by the reaction of (2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine)chloropalladium(II) chloride and (4′-chloro-2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine)chloropalladium(II) chloride, with antimetabolites including acetamide, isonicotinamide, theophylline, and imidazole. In all complexes, the inner coordination sphere contains one terpyridine ligand and one antimetabolite ligand. Infrared spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction were used to determine the structure of new compounds. These new complexes' in vitro cytotoxic activity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells will be reported and compared to other known metal complexes to establish their potential as antitumor drugs.
