Elevating separation performance in residue analysis using monodisperse fully porous particles (MFPP) columns | Poster Board #643

Date
August 20, 2024

As global guidelines require more sensitive and selective analytical methods for complex sample matrices, developing a robust analytical method has become more challenging. To support registration of crop protection products across a portfolio of crops and deliver safety data in a timely manner, innovation in sample preparation paired with new separation technology must be leveraged. In this presentation, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) stationary phases prepared using monodisperse fully porous particles (MFPP) with novel bonded phase chemistries were employed for LC-MS/MS quantitation of a crop protection product and its metabolites in various plant matrices and demonstrated high resolution and efficiency. To determine the mechanism of the enhanced separation performance, either particle morphology (monodisperse or polydisperse material) or column bonded phase chemistry, a customized set of columns was prepared to isolate the variables. Separation performance in terms of retention time, peak shape, and resolution were compared between the columns being tested. To further improve sample throughput, a semi-automatic method screening approach utilizing multiple modes of interaction for sample preparation was tested.
