A Symposium on Surface Chemistry Inspired by the Contributions of Robert J. Madix:
Date
March 25, 2025
Division/Committee: [CATL: Division of Catalysis Science and Technology] [ENFL: Division of Energy and Fuels] [ENVR: Division of Environmental Chemistry] [I&EC: Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry] [PHYS: Division of Physical Chemistry]
Robert J. 'Bob' Madix was a major force in surface chemistry. He was an early adopter of ultrahigh vacuum surface science techniques to provide a molecular understanding of catalytic processes on surfaces, eventually using this fundamental understanding to develop predictive models for catalytic processes. This symposium provides a platform from which to share work that was inspired by Bob's long career in surface science and catalysis.
