Astrochemist, Hervé Cottin is a professor at the University of Paris-Est-Créteil (UPEC) and carries out his research at LISA laboratory. He is president of the French Astrobiology Society. His research work is mainly devoted to the study of cometary organic matter and was involved in the Rosetta mission, mainly in the COSIMA TOF-SIMS instrument team, dedicated to the analysis of the composition of dust particles ejected from the nucleus of comet 67P He seeks to understand whether comets could have contributed to the appearance of life on Earth and how their composition can tell us about the birth of the solar system. He is part of the MOMA instrument's scientific team (Mars Organic Molecule Analyzer) aboard the Rosalind Franklin rover of the European mission ExoMars.
