Wenping received his B.S. degree in Chemistry in 2014 from HeFei University of Technology and his M.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2017. There, he worked with Dr. Changle Chen. He enrolled in the chemistry graduate program at UH in Fall 2017 and joined the Zastrow lab. His research is focused on using cofactor-based fluorescent proteins as platforms for anaerobic metal ion sensors. Outside of lab, he enjoys singing, swimming, and cooking.
