Dr. Paris Barnes earned his Ph.D. in solid state inorganic chemistry at The Ohio State University. His dissertation work on exploring structural changes and distortions in quaternary perovskites and defect pyrochlores using powder diffraction techniques was completed with Dr. Patrick Woodward in 2003. Dr. Barnes completed a three-year post-doctoral appointment in the Materials Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory with Dr. James Jorgensen and was hired as Millikin University's inorganic chemist in 2006. He is currently the institution's John A. Leighty Distinguished Professor of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Dr. Barnes has published 15 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals with international audiences including his 2019 publication titled "Comparison of the Crystal Chemistry of Te6+, Mo6+, and W6+ in Double Perovskite Oxides and Related Materials" in Progress in Solid State Chemistry.
