Kendahl Walz Mitra is currently a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Alexandra Velian's group at the University of Washington. Her research concerns the surface modification of black phosphorus, a semiconducting two-dimensional van der Waals material, and characterization of the resulting surfaces. This work seeks to control the intrinsic physical and chemical properties of black phosphorus for electronic and catalytic applications. Outside of the lab, Kendahl is passionate about science communication and clean energy education.
