Prof Nancy A Burnham PhD

Professor of Physics, Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Nancy Burnham earned her PhD in Physics in 1987.  As a postdoc at the Naval Research Laboratory she became interested in the early development of atomic force microscopy and its ability to determine adhesion.  After nine years working in Germany and Switzerland as a research scientist, she arrived at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where she is now a Professor of Physics and Professor of Biomedical Engineering.  The work presented today results from a much enjoyed sabbatical at the Aramco Research Center in Boston during the 2015-16 academic year.
