Session: Advances in Renewable Energy and Fuels:

A study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of solvent on the mechanochemical synthesis of a microporous metal–organic framework Cu₃(BTC)₂for hydrogen storage. It was found that, both the presence of water of hydration in reactants and addition of a small amount of solvent prior to grinding, could improve the crystallinity of Cu₃(BTC)₂ formed in the final products. However, the latter was found to be more effective in improving the crystallinity of Cu₃(BTC)₂, which leads to better properties in specific surface area and thus hydrogen storage capacity.
