Kathleen T. Krist

Ph.D. Candidate, Penn State University

I am a 5th-year graduate student in the Department of Chemistry at Penn State. I earned my B.S. in chemistry from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA in 2016. At JMU, I conducted materials science research with Dr. Chris Hughes, where I focused on improving metal-polymer adhesion for applications in surface patterning and lab-on-a-chip devices. I started at Penn State in Fall 2016, where I joined Dr. William Noid's group. My research involves using theories from statistical mechanics and non-equilibrium thermodynamics to model molecular chemotaxis. This work is largely motivated by experiments conducted by the Sen and Cremer groups at Penn State. Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, golfing, rock climbing, and supporting New York Giants football.
