Applications of bioisosteres in the design of biologically active compounds

Date
August 23, 2022

The concept of bioisosterism is a well-established design principle in drug discovery and development that has found broad-based application. However, implementation of the bioisostere design concept in the design of agricultural molecules appear to be less overt, presumably a reflection of differences the practices. In this presentation, we will discuss examples of the value of bioisosteric replacement from the world of drug discovery that may be of broader utility. In addition, we will also examine the many bioisosteric motifs that have originated in the arena of agricultural compound design and which have subsequently been embraced by drug discoverers.
