The ACS Memorial Symposium celebrates the legacy of Dr. Dong Qin in the colloidal synthesis of noble-metal nanocrystals. Dr. Qin was an innovative scientist whose work contributed to a deeper understanding of the reaction mechanisms involved in nanocrystal synthesis. She is widely recognized for her many original contributions to the robust and rational synthesis of silver nanocubes, especially as it relates to the mechanistic understanding of their synthesis and shape preservation. Dr. Qin also pioneered the use of in situ surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) as a powerful tool to elucidate molecular interactions occurring on the surface of Ag nanocrystals during their synthesis. The symposium aims not only to honor Dr. Qins scientific contributions but also spotlight the latest advances in the field of surface chemistry of colloidal nanocrystals.
