Pr Xavier Banquy

Pr Banquy is an associate professor at the Université de Montreal where he holds the Canada Research Chair in bioinspired materials and surfaces since 2013. He is currently the director of the Drug Formulation and Analysis Research cluster at the Faculty of Pharmacy. His research focuses on the study of molecular and surface interactions and their use in the development of novel bioinspired technologies for the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and cancer. In particular, he has pioneered the development of bottle-brush polymers for biomedical applications such as artificial biolubricants or antifouling agents. His laboratory has also forged a strong expertise in nanoparticle design and characterization for applications in diagnostics and therapeutics. In this area his team has implemented novel technologies such as differential dynamic microscopy for the characterization of nano-objects dynamics in biological fluids and living organisms.
