Session: Undergraduate Research Posters: Computational Chemistry:

The room temperature hydroboration reaction between thexylborane and p-R-C₆H₆-CN (R = CH₃or OCH₃) in THF or toluene results in the formation of a tetrasubstituted aldiminoborane dimer with a rare preference for the air stable trans, syn stereoisomer. Structure elucidation and complete assignment of the resonances in the ¹H and ¹³C{¹H} NMR spectra were completed via melting point, FTIR spectroscopy and NMR spectroscopy and B3LYP/6-311+G(2d,p) calculations.
