Prof. Victoria V Volkis

Dr. Volkis' PhD was in a field of polymerization. Her postdoctoral training in Boulder, CO, was in lithium-catalyzed radical polymerization. While doing her PhD, Dr. Volkis had a major long-term side project resulted in extended training in phytochemistry with emphasis on antioxidants and essential oils from plant materials. After she has joined University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2010, she is working on the edge of polymer science and phytochemistry, developing technologies for extraction of phytochemicals for food supplements, doing cultural management study for value-added specialty crops, processing study, as well as nature inspired polymeric formulations with natural extracts for antifouling protection, and resin extraction of antioxidants.
