The Chemical Catalysis for Bioenergy (ChemCatBio) consortium is an R&D consortium dedicated to identifying and overcoming catalysis challenges for clean fuels and chemicals processes. Led by U.S. Dept. of Energy national laboratories, ChemCatBio seeks to accelerate the catalyst and process development cycle for biomass- and waste-derived fuels and chemicals, leading to circular processes with low carbon intensity, reduced GHG emissions, enhanced energy security, and national leadership in the global bioeconomy. This symposium will foster engagement with industry and academia to tackle challenges spanning from foundational science to applied engineering, leverage our unique capabilities, and collaboratively generate new advanced technologies. Topics include but are not limited to: 1) Scalable catalyst synthesis and in situ characterization in real conditions 2) Synthesis, characterization, and catalysis with engineered catalyst forms 3) New catalysts/processes for reactions driven by alternative energy sources 4) AI/ML approaches to accelerate catalyst and process development 5) Reaction and reactor modelling to enable scalability 6) Understanding catalyst and process lifetime and durability
