Uyen Huynh is pursuing postdoctoral research in bioinorganic and biological chemistry with Prof. Melissa Zastrow at the University of Houston. Her projects aim to uncover mechanisms for how extracellular and intracellular metal ions affect the human gut microbiota using intestinal and probiotic Lactobacillus species. Uyen Huynh received her Ph.D in organic chemistry from the University of Houston under the supervision of Prof. Don Coltart. Her graduate research focused on developing asymmetric ketone a-alkylation to enable the total synthesis of optically active drug molecules and biologically active natural products.
