Teresa Karjala
Fellow, The Dow Chemical Company
Teresa Karjala is a R&D Fellow in the Packaging and Specialty Plastics Polyethylene Product group at Dow in Lake Jackson, Texas. She has worked at Dow for over 30 years and received her B.S. from Michigan Technological University and her Ph.D. from The University of Delaware, both in chemical engineering. Dr. Karjala focuses on new product development in polyethylene with technical interests in materials science, structure/property relationships, polymer rheology and processing, and film bubble stability and optics. She has over 90 U.S. and 70 European granted patents and has published over 80 external research articles and presentations. Her awards include the SPE Fellow Award, the ACS Award for Team Innovation, the R&D 100 Award Market Disruptor Award, and Finalists for the R&D 100 and Edison Awards. She is also on the External Advisory Boards for the Michigan Technological University Chemical Engineering Department and the AIP Physics of Fluids Journal.
