Dr. Stefan Mathew Piontek

FP-RESOMUS Postdoctoral Fellow, Ruhr Universität Bochum

Stefan Piontek received his B.S. degree (2013) from Montana State University. He then worked in the photonics industry at Altos Photonics Inc. before joining Professor Eric Borguet's group at Temple University in late 2014. He received his Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 2019, and during his time in the Borguet group used vibrational sum frequency generation spectroscopy (vSFG) as a tool to characterize the interfacial solvent structure, the vibrational dynamics, and the heterogeneous charging of mineral oxide surfaces. Stefan is now a FP-RESOMUS postdoctoral fellow in the Petersen Group at Ruhr University Bochum in Germany, studying solvent structure at gold/water interfaces.
