My research interests are in the areas of photooxygenation, quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (q-NMR), and perfume chemistry. In the photooxygenation area, we are interested in finding non-disulfide cross-linkages in proteins to understand mechanisms of cataract formation. In the q-NMR area, we establish methods to quantitatively analyze various pharmaceutical drugs. q-NMR methods are alternate viable methods for the HPLC methods commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry. In the perfume chemistry area, we work on quantitative and qualitative analysis of various essential oils and perfumes by GC-MS and q-NMR.

I teach organic chemistry, molecular modeling, NMR, and methods development/statistical process control courses. I have been teaching online two-semester sequence organic chemistry courses for over 20 years.
