Sebastian Koltzenburg studied chemistry with a focus on polymer science at the University of Freiburg, Germany, with Rolf Mülhaupt. He received his PhD from Munich University of Technology for his thesis about liquid crystalline polyacetylene, supervised by Oskar Nuyken. He joined BASF in 1998, followed by a delegation to CalTech in Bob Grubbs' group as visiting scientist. Later on, he became Associate for Applied Physics at the School of Engineering and Applied Science of Harvard University. Sebastian's current assignment is within BASF's central research organization where he works as Senior Principal Scientist in the field digitalization of R&D. Besides his job at BASF, he is honorary professor at the University of Heidelberg where he teaches polymer chemistry, and is an active author and co-author of textbooks in the field of macromolecular science.
