University of Massachusetts Amherst

Ryan Thai is a UMass Amherst Commonwealth Honors College student majoring in chemistry. He spent his time preparing to be a doctor, not only cultivating his understanding of the sciences through research, but also expanding his skills in teaching and as a leader. He has served as the UMass Chemistry club president since his sophomore year. Ryan has also been a chemistry TA since his sophomore year, being in the labs and in his sophomore and junior years and now in lecture for his senior year. Being involved in the community, he has served on the Chem. Equity & Diversity Committee and volunteered at Lahey Hospital and Not Bread Alone Soup Kitchen. To further prepare his goal of being an academic physician, Ryan served as an undergraduate research assistant in the Farkas Lab, studying tumor microenvironment-sensitive linkers as a model drug delivery system via the use of macrophages. He will be completing his thesis his senior year on metalloproteinase-sensitive peptide linkers.
