Prof. Ruth Cardinaels

Ruth Cardinaels is research Professor in the Soft Matter Rheology and Technology section in the Chemical Engineering department at KU Leuven in Belgium. Before joining the SMaRT section at the end of 2020, she was Assistant Professor in the Polymer Technology section at TU Eindhoven in the Netherlands since 2014. Ruth holds a PhD from KU Leuven and performed postdoctoral research at KU Leuven and Princeton University (USA). 

The research in the group of Prof. Cardinaels is inspired by the idea that "Formulating multi-phasic materials and engineering their microstructure is essential to integrate various functionalities in the materials of the future". Her research involves the study of multiphasic soft matter systems by means of rheological, rheo-optical and rheo-dielectric techniques thereby focusing on in-situ time-resolved characterizations during processing.
