Dr. Roberto Javier Brea Fernandez

Assistant Project Scientist, University of California, San Diego

Roberto J. Brea received his PhD in Chemistry (2013) from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), under the supervision of Prof. Juan R. Granja, working on the design, synthesis and potential applications of supramolecular nanosystems based on cyclic peptides. Afterwards, he moved to the University of California, San Diego (USA) to carry out postdoctoral studies with Prof. Neal K. Devaraj as a Human Frontier Science Program (Cross-Disciplinary) fellow. Since 2018, he has worked as an Assistant Project Scientist at University of California, San Diego (USA). His current research focuses on the development of novel strategies to generate self-assembled structures and expand the range of chemical reactions that could trigger in situ lipid formation in living cells and organisms, as well as the design, study and applications of chemoselective protein modification methodologies.
