Catalyst design can take a variety of forms; however, modern approaches often involve a collaboration between theoretical and experimental methods. These projects can be quite fruitful for both parties, as atomistic understanding and new testable hypotheses can be achieved through combined efforts. This symposium will feature stories of successful theoretical-experimental collaborations and discussions on emerging ways collaboration can drive catalyst design, as well as provide a platform for future relationships to develop. Topics include but are not limited to: 1) Theoretical and experimental elucidation of mechanisms and structure-function relationships 2) Data-driven models for computational catalyst design 3) Catalysis screening studies, both experimental and theoretical 4) Use of theory in catalyst characterization, including spectroscopy
