I received my BA in Chemistry from Augsburg College (UNiversity now), Minneapolis Minnesota in 1968. I did my doctoral research in organic chemistry with Prof Henry Rapoport at Cal Berkeley 1968-72, followed by postdoctoral research in medicinal chemistry with Prof Phil Portoghese at the University of Minnesota 1973-5. I had a joint appointment between Harvard Medical School and Northeastern University 1975-1980, after which I was appointed full time at Northeastern University 1980-present. My research interests have focused on radiopharmaceuticals, steroid chemistry, receptor tyrosine kinases and drugs for neglected diseases. I have focused teaching efforts on all levels of organic chemistry and development of undergraduate research experiences. The laboratory course that is the subject of this presentation, is the result of my undergraduate and graduate research efforts.
