I am a Beckman Scholar and a Goldwater Scholar from the University of Richmond (UR). For the past 3 years, I have worked in Dr. Michael Leopold's bioanalytical and nanomaterials lab at UR. My projects involve optimizing halogen bonding interactions and combining them with gold nanoparticles to develop molecular-detection schemes for pesticides and illicit substances. Additionally, I am developing a nanoparticle-enhanced biosensor for xanthine and hypoxanthine. Upon graduation, I hope to pursue an M.D./Ph.D. degree in biomaterials science with therapeutic applications.
