Dr. Michael A Meador

Chief Technologist, Meador Aerospace Materials Group, LLC

Michael Meador is the Chief Technologist for Meador Aerospace Materials Group, a small consulting firm based in South Carolina.  In 2019, he retired from a 35+ year career in the Federal Government.  During his NASA career, Dr. Meador held a variety of positions in the management of advanced materials R&D including Chief of NASA Glenn's Polymers Branch, Manager of the Game Changing Technologies Nanotechnology Project, and Program Element Manager for Materials and Manufacturing in the Game Changing Technology Development Program.   He also led a NASA-wide effort to develop the 2010 Space Technology Roadmap for Nanotechnology, a 25-year plan for the development and application of nanotechnology to support future NASA missions and its revision in 2014.  From 2014-2016, he served as the Director of the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office in the WH Office of Science and Technology Policy.  He is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society and has been active in the ACS for more than 40 years, including serving as the 2020 Chair of the Division of Polymer Chemistry.  Dr. Meador has a BA in Chemistry (Ithaca College) and a PhD in Organic Chemistry (Michigan State University).
