Dr Micaela Matta

Lecturer (Assistant Professor), University of Liverpool School of Physical Sciences

Bio

Micaela's work leverages molecular simulations to explore the structure-properties of conducting polymers and bioinspired materials for applications in biosensors and bioelectronics.

Micaela obtained her master's and PhD at the University of Bologna, and held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Bordeaux and Northwestern University. In 2019, she joined the University of Liverpool as the awardee of a Royal Society Newton International Fellowship and a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship. She then started her independent group at King's College London in April 2022.

Research interests

Micaela's research interests lie at the interface between bioinspired materials, organic electronics and bioelectronics. Her group will employ a range of computational techniques, from quantum chemistry to molecular dynamics simulations and cheminformatics, to design and characterise functional materials for biomedical applications and energy/information storage.
