Prof. Mark S. Taylor

Professor and Canada Research Chair, Department of Chemistry, University of Toronto

Mark S. Taylor was born in Oxford, England and grew up in Toronto. He received his B.Sc. in 2000 from the University of Toronto, where he conducted research in the laboratory of Prof. Mark Lautens. Mark then pursued graduate studies at Harvard University from 2000-2005 under the supervision of Prof. Eric Jacobsen. After carrying out postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with Prof. Tim Swager, he returned to the Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto in 2007. He currently holds the position of Professor and Canada Research Chair in Molecular Recognition and Catalysis, with research interests spanning the areas of organic synthesis, catalysis, molecular recognition and polymer chemistry. Prof. Taylor has received several awards for excellence in research, including the A. P. Sloan Research Fellowship, McLean Award, CSC Keith Fagnou Award, ACS Horace S. Isbell Award and CSC IntelliSyn Pharma Award.
