Dr Mark Powell is a consultant analytical chemist based in the UK. After completing a PhD in analytical chemistry, he worked at a senior level in a number of industrial laboratories with responsibility for developing methods for organic compounds in a variety of different matrices.
Mark joined Liverpool John Moores University's School of Pharmacy and Chemistry in 1997 as a Senior Lecturer, teaching chromatography, mass spectrometry and sample preparation. He was Programme Leader for the University's MSc in Instrumental Chemical Analysis and was also active in research and consultancy. In 2003, he joined a newly-formed contract research organisation, Quay Pharmaceuticals, as their Analytical Manager and was subsequently appointed Scientific Manager.
In 2013, Mark set up his own company providing training and consultancy services to the pharmaceutical industry. He is married with three grown-up children and enjoys running, trumpet playing and gardening when time permits.
