Dr. Mark Tyler Nelson Ph.D.

Research Biomedical Engineer, Air Force Research Laboratory, 711th Human Performance Wing

Dr. Nelson completed his B.S. in biomedical engineering from Purdue University in 2010. He then attended The Ohio State University studying biomedical engineering, and completed his Ph.D. with a focus in biomaterials and tissue engineering in 2015. After graduate school, Dr. Nelson went to the Air Force Research Laboratory as a CRFP Post-Doctoral Fellow, where he developed and executed organ-on-a-chip experiments focusing on inhalation toxicology in a primary lung-on-a-chip model. In 2016, Dr. Nelson started as a government PI, where his lab focuses on the development of advanced in vitro platforms including microphysiological systems and tissue engineered models to study the biological responses of human cells to Air Force relevant stressors.
