Maria King, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Dept. Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Texas A&M University, is an expert in the collection and analysis of viable and non-viable aerosol particles using the wetted wall cyclone (WWC) aerosol collectors developed in the Aerosol Technology Laboratory, and microbial - molecular techniques including quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) based quantification and microbiome analysis of airborne pathogens. Her research focuses on applying computational fluid dynamics (CFD) programs to model ventilation airflow in critical infrastructures and mitigate the spread of harmful bioaerosols, including viruses, bacteria, fungi and toxins.
