Surface chemistry has been the fundamentals in heterogenous catalysis and has played a vital role in the design of high-performance catalysts, in the understanding of mechanism and in building up the structure-performance relationship. Research in surface science of catalysts, surface interaction with molecules, surface properties governing the performance, heterogeneous catalysts synthesis and design, will all be appropriate and welcome for this symposium. Topics of interest include in this symposium but not limited to: • Fundamentals of surface chemistry • Surface modifications • Characterization techniques on catalyst surface • Novel reactions based on surface properties. • Metal surfaces • Multicomponent catalyst surface • Strong metal-support interactions • Surface templating
