Mrs. Laura A Kesner

Ph.D. Candidate, University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC)

Laura Kesner is a Ph.D. candidate in the Rosenzweig lab. Her research is on fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy of laurdan-labeled liposome (phospholipid vesicle) model cell membranes to monitor their phase change in response to nanoparticle exposure. After she finishes her Ph.D., she plans to become a professor so that she can inspire students of all backgrounds to love chemistry.

Laura graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Chemistry from UMBC and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Prior to her time at UMBC, she earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education magna cum laude from Shenandoah University and taught piano.

Outside of the lab, Laura sings, plays the piano, and practices calligraphy.
