Food packaging is integral to increasing food safety and quality, extending shelf life, and minimizing food waste. This symposium is aimed to contain valuable information and innovative ideas regarding recently developed packaging techniques and their implications on food preservation. This symposium will cover multidisciplinary aspects of packaging materials (e.g., films or coatings) and their applications to ensure the safe use of foods and improve the quality of foods. Packaging techniques include, but are not limited to nanotechnology-enabled packaging, biopolymer-based packaging, active packaging, and intelligent packaging. In addition, the interactions of food with packaging materials will also be encouraged, such as the migration of substances from packaging to foods and its impacts on food safety and human health.
