Dr. Kevin J De France PhD

I am an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Laboratory of Cellulose & Applied Wood Materials at Empa - Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology in Switzerland. Here, my research program emphasizes the design and development of sustainable bio-based materials from cellulose, proteins, and other natural building blocks for applications spanning the biomedical, sustainable packaging, and environmental fields. I completed my PhD in Chemical Engineering at McMaster University in Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Todd Hoare and Dr. Emily Cranston, focusing on the design of nanocellulose-based structured hydrogels for tissue engineering applications.
