Dr. Katoria Tatum-Gibbs Ph.D.

Global Consumer Safety-Senior Scientist, BASF

My name is Katoria Tatum-Gibbs, and I am a Senior Agricultural Chemist at BASF Corporation in Research Triangle Park, NC. I have had the pleasure of being a part of BASF's Global Consumer Safety Team for the past 7 years. An active steward of the regulatory community, I take great pride in my ability to provide scientific expertise used in the establishment of innovative and sustainable solutions that ultimately support feeding the world's growing population.  Prior to my time at BASF, I studied the impact of various environmentally-relevant compounds within the Toxicity Assessment Division at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (Research Triangle Park, NC).  I received both my undergraduate degree (B.S. in Chemistry) and graduate degree (Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology) from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. As an active member within the ACS AGRO Division, I have enjoyed the opportunity to both moderate symposiums and present my research in an early career symposium. Similarly, I am both a co-organizer and presenter for the "Human Health Paradigms-Exposure, Risk Assessment & Policies for Agrochemicals" symposium being planned for the upcoming Fall 2021 Meeting.  To date, the support and mentorship I have received as a young scientist within the AGRO division has been invaluable for my career development. If given the opportunity I would love to pay if forward to the emerging scientist within our division by continuing to support initiatives that promote mentorship and diversity.
