Prof. Jun Cheng

Professor, Xiamen University, China

Jun Cheng received his PhD in Chemistry at Queen's University Belfast, UK in 2008. He then moved to the University of Cambridge, first as a postdoc for two years developing ab initio molecular dynamics method for computing  redox potentials and pKa's. In 2010-2013, he was awarded a junior research fellowship by Emmanuel College at Cambridge, which granted him freedom to pursue his interest in interfacial electrochemistry. He became a university lecturer at the University of Aberdeen, UK in 2013, and was soon rewarded a major national start-up program fund and took up a full professorship in Xiamen University, China. His recent research interest is combining electronic structure, statistical sampling and machine learning methods for studying chemical dynamics in catalysis and electrochemistry. He has published over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals including Nat. Mater., Nat. Commun., Sci. Adv. and Phys. Rev. Lett., which have accumulated over 5300 citations and his H-index is 42.
