Dr. Joy Karmakar Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Joy Karmakar is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, United States. He obtained his B.Sc. (Honors) in Chemistry from Presidency College, Kolkata under the University of Calcutta, and his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the School of Chemistry at the University of Hyderabad, India. Dr. Karmakar worked in synthetic organic chemistry at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, and at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune in organometallics chemistry. Subsequently, he moved to Israel to obtain his Ph.D. in Bimane Chemistry. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Flavio Grynszpan and has been granted Award for Excellence in Doctoral Research by Ariel University, Israel. His research interest includes bimane chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, fluorescent probes and imaging, sensors, supramolecular chemistry, etc.
