Jorge L Colón Ph.D.

Jorge L. Colón (B.S.: University of Puerto Rico (UPR)-Río Piedras, Ph.D. and postdoc: Texas A&M University, National Science Foundation postdoc: California Institute of Technology) joined the Department of Chemistry at UPR-Río Piedras in 1992, where he is currently Professor of Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry. His research interests are in ​​laminar nanomaterials with applications in solar energy, electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction, biosensors, and anticancer drugs delivery using nanoparticles. He is an AAAS Fellow, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, an ACS Fellow, member of the ACS International Affairs Committee and of IUPAC Division II (Inorganic Chemistry). Prof. Colón is PI of the NSF-PREM Center for Interfacial Electrochemistry for Energy Materials (CIE2M), a collaboration between UPR, the Ana G. Méndez University, Cornell University and Cornell's synchrotron facility CHESS.
