Jon Sorenson Ph.D.

Jon Sorenson, PhD is head of the technology development teams at Atomwise. Jon has nearly 20 years of experience in computational biology and software leadership, ranging from senior contributor roles to executive management of 100+ person teams spanning computational biology and software operations. He has held senior leadership roles at Applied Biosystems, Pacific Biosciences, Invitae, and 10X Genomics and is co-author on more than 30 publications and patents. At Atomwise, he's thrilled to have returned to his first passion of computational drug design, a field he first encountered as a college intern working at Merck Research. Before joining industry in 2000 he obtained a BS in Chemistry/Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College, an M. Phil. in Theoretical Chemistry from University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from UC Berkeley.
