Dr. John H. Lauterbach Ph.D., DABT

Dr. Lauterbach founded Lauterbach & Associates, LLC, shortly after retiring from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation (B&W) on October 1, 2004.  His most recent positions at B&W were Principal Scientist, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs and Director, Research Services, where he had total responsibility for the analytical research, methods development, and routine analytical services. While at B&W, Dr. Lauterbach also served as Chairman of the Board of the Tobacco Institute Testing Laboratory and Chair of the US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC 126 on Tobacco and Tobacco Products.  Dr. Lauterbach also served on the FDA's Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee from 2010 to 2012, where he represented the interests of the small tobacco product manufacturers.  Dr. Lauterbach is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) and has been a frequent presenter at the Tobacco Science Research Conference and meetings of CORESTA. Prior to joining B&W in 1980, Dr. Lauterbach worked in the starch, food, and chemical testing industries. He has a Ph.D.  in Carbohydrate Chemistry from The Ohio State University under the direction of the late Professor Derek Horton.
