Professor Jesse L Beauchamp

Professor of Chemistry, California Institute of Technology

Professor Beauchamp was an undergraduate at the California Institute of Technology, graduating with honors in 1964.  His Ph.D. studies were conducted at Harvard University, under the direction of Professor John Baldeschwieler.  He has been a faculty member of the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology since 1967. Professor Beauchamp's major scientific contributions have involved the development of new techniques for studies of the structures, reaction dynamics, and properties of organic, inorganic, and biological molecules and ions in the gas phase and at the air-water interface. He is the author of over 300 research publications.  He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a recipient of the Pure Chemistry and Peter Debye Awards from the American Chemical Society.
