H. N. Cheng is the 2022 Immediate Past President and 2021 President of the American Chemical Society (ACS). He has been active in the ACS for many years and has served in leadership positions in numerous ACS committees and task forces. He works at USDA Southern Regional Research Center, where he is involved with sustainability and green chemistry as a product development platform. His recognition includes ACS Fellow (2009), Fellow of ACS Polymer Chemistry Division (2010), Fellow of ACS Agricultural and Food Chemistry Division, ACS Volunteer Service Award, and other awards, He received his B.S. degree from UCLA and Ph.D. from the Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
