Heather Abbott-Lyon is an Associate Professor at Kennesaw State University, where she teaches physical chemistry and performs research with undergraduate and masters students on the reactivity and surface properties of phosphorus-containing minerals. She is finishing her term as Chair and moving into her role as Past Chair of the Astrochemistry subdivision of the ACS. Prior to joining the faculty at KSU, Abbott-Lyon was a postdoctoral researcher at Georgia Tech and an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the Fritz-Haber Institute of the Max Plank Society in Berlin, Germany. She obtained her doctorate from the University of Virginia and her bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Classical Studies at Emory University.
