
Dr. Hamidou Keita
Chemistry Instructor, Tohono O'odham Community College
Dr. Keita began his doctoral research at Clemson University in 2015, where he conducted research on the synthesis and medicinal properties of ruthenium carbene complexes. In addition, he carried out series of investigations to engineer the next generation of solid state electrolytes for lithium ion battery applications.
After graduating in 2018 with a PhD in chemistry, he taught chemistry at William Woods University and Purdue University, before joining Tohono O'odham Community College as a Chemistry Instructor in Fall 2020.
Recently, Dr. Keita is particularly interested in learning the Tohono O'odham language and history and introducing indigenous students to chemistry research. Furthermore, he is passionate about incorporating native knowledge into his teaching and research to enrich the research programs and boost student participate in the STEM fields according to the unique culture and needs of the native American communities.
