Session: Successful Student Chapters:

The Waynesburg University ACS student chapter is dedicated to sharing our passion for chemistry. Though COVID-19 impacted the types of activities our chapter could do, we were still determined to create a community on campus that has a greater appreciation for chemistry. This was accomplished through several virtual activities including inviting alumni of the chemistry department to speak about life after college, having faculty of the chemistry department introduce themselves to the chapter, and hosting chemistry-themed game nights. We also had the opportunity to participate in Chemfest, an event organized by the Pittsburgh ACS local section for schools in the area during National Chemistry week, where we performed a demonstration about using adhesives to strengthen a toy Styrofoam airplane. Even during the pandemic, we found ways to stay connected with the community on campus and continued to be enthusiastic about chemistry.
